Nursery Room
As the learning process begins at birth, Discovery views our Nursery room children as capable and involved learners.
Knowledge, care and attention is given to creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment in the nursery. The children’s individual daily routines such as feeding, resting and nappy changing are significant elements of the daily program. These experiences offer positive opportunities for learning and time for building strong relationships between educators, children and their families.
On enrolment, families are invited to book in for a 1:1 orientation with the Nursery Room Leader where the leader will spend time with the family and child touring the Nursery Room environments, introducing the Nursery educators, explaining the program, gaining information about the child and family and answering any questions families may have prior to starting care. Families are also provided with a “Welcome to the Nursery Room” booklet highlighting information specific to the Nursery Room, first day tips for parents, information on what to bring and what Discovery provides as well as a first day checklist.
Discovery's nursery program provides opportunities for the children to learn and develop at their own age, stage and pace. We do this through a variety of age appropriate resources, play spaces and experiences such as:
- Providing a supportive and enriching environment that fosters each child's emotional wellbeing, physical, creative & social skills, independence, exploration, investigation and discovery.
- Opportunities for imaginative/role play, creative arts, music & movement, language and literacy and physical development through our Fundamental Movement Skills program.
The Nursery room is led by a team of qualified and experienced Diploma and Certificate III educators.
