A Very Deadly Visitor!

Last week, we had a very special visit from Corey Tutt from DeadlyScience. Corey shared his new book about reptiles and introduced us to “This Book Thinks Ya Deadly,” which helped us understand how the word “deadly” is used in Aboriginal culture. Corey explained that “deadly” means someone or something exceptional, talented, or remarkable.
He also shared stories about incredible Aboriginal people like Cathy Freeman and Ash Barty. Following the inspiring visit from Corey, the older children discussed what makes someone “deadly” as they explored their own strengths and identities.
This experience provided a meaningful opportunity to engage with Aboriginal perspectives, fostering deeper understanding and respect for First Nations cultures.
